Children's Theatre at the Secret

The Secret Youth Theatre

for ages 6-13yrs
Saturday mornings from 9am

We hope to establish a drama group aimed at involving the youth of our local community. The group will be lead by The Queens Players artistic director, Richard Mazda, who is well known to many of the youngsters in LIC as 'Pirate Pete'. There will be a revolving roster of professional actors and children's theatre performers involved. The Secret Youth Theatre classes are for any child from age 6-13 with an interest in drama and performance. The majority of activities are non-selective and places are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. A full schedule for 2008 will be issued once we have established the group.

Workshop style classes encourage focus, discipline and team work:

Improvisation and theatre games - fosters spontaneity, self-confidence and group awareness
Performance techniques - vocal work, movement/physical awareness and characterization
Ensemble - all elements learned throughout the workshops are then focused to create a performance presentation for family and friends to enjoy

All students will get a chance to perform in The Secret Youth Theatre productions. Preparation for this begins approximately 10 weeks before the performance date. Our first scheduled show will be in late Spring 2008.

For workshops, pupils should wear comfortable clothes
- no short skirts, please.

Rates

Classes will start at an introductory price of $7.50 per class.
